Who we are

About the founder

Richard Burton, the founder.

A UK national living in Paris, Richard has had a varied career in defence electronics, cable TV, computing, information services, stock exchanges, trade credit and political risk insurance. He initially set up Magellan Capital Advisors to help young technology related companies with their development and raise funds. He is an active Angel Investor and board advisor with interests in Fintech, Internet, Cloud services among others.

Richard is currently actively looking for SMEs to buy-out or buy-into. His broader experience of developing businesses internationally will allow him to give unique perspectives on your development projects, whether you are a Start-up or a medium to large enterprise.

After 6 years in Paris in international development Richard spent 16 years living and working in Asia, based in Hong Kong, for Coface where he developed and ran the trade credit insurance and political risk businesses across 13 countries. He returned to Paris in 2015 to head up the internal audit function before setting up Magellan Capital Advisors in early 2016.

Richard is a former Chairman of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Hong Kong and of the European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. He is a Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merite and Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merite Agricole. He is married with three children and in his spare time enjoys long distance trail running.
